Q: I’ve known my best friend (31 F) for almost a decade - we met at university - and we’ve always been very close. But recently, she’s been really hard work to be around. I can’t tell if it’s because I’m growing up or she’s getting worse, but it feels like all she does is bitch or say negative things about people. Whenever something good happens to me - I got promoted earlier this year and also got really into running - she minimises it or finds a different way to put me down to almost balance out the good. Do I try to wait it out (perhaps this is a phase she’s going through) or is it time to move on? Spending time with her is really draining my happiness.
